                        Brian
Tepper was born in Philadelphia on November 13, 1969.
His first significant investigation in the creative process
occurred in a finger painting when he was just a child.
From that moment on, his studies have expanded from Saturday
classes at The University of the Arts, to a BFA from School
of Visual Arts in 1992, to an MPS from Pratt Institute
in 1996, up until today where he continues his studies
at The Art Students League in NYC.

It was in paint where his delight was first realized.
Working in oils, latex and enamels: environments were
created in which one could be fused with the work, live
within the imagery, the movement and the forms. His intention
was to create a world of passion, which he found in 1997
in a piece of stone. That hard impenetrable piece
of earth held a piece of the artist. Carving in
stone is a captivating, convoluted and challenging material
to work; a catharsis occurs which then fuels the creative
process unlike all other forms of expression.

Brians work is the persistent exploration of form
and movement, bringing the stone to life, to let it breath,
to impact the setting in which it occupies. He utilizes
the technique of Direct Carving. The forms must
emerge from within the stone. The piece is complete when
it speaks to the essence of the soul. The artist
loves the work and wishes to carry on his journey for
					  many years to come.
